Research for the Front Lines supports the research needs of impacted communities and grassroots movements fighting for environmental and climate justice across so-called Canada.

We offer the following kinds of support:

Funding for Indigenous and other directly impacted communities and individuals to lead their own research projects, on their own terms.

Volunteer research labour by skilled researchers from across Canada, with a wide variety of skills and experience.

Support from R4FL Research Coordinators to help create research plans, explore methods, coordinate teams of volunteers, and plan for impactful mobilization of research findings.

We offer regular trainings on issues and methods relevant to the work we support.

We also have a Solidarity Fund to support Indigenous Land Defenders and other BIPOC organizers who have needs for support that are not research-related.

Are you a member of a community facing climate impacts or unwanted oil and gas development? Are you a land defender, activist, or grassroots community organizer fighting for climate and environmental justice? Could strategic research, data and writing help you with your current struggle? If so, get in touch with us at info@researchforthefrontlines.ca to set up a meeting to talk about how we can support your work.

Are you a student, professor, or researcher with skills and time to offer? Do you want to actively support the fight for climate and environmental justice in Canada? If so, sign up here to join our community of over 250+ research volunteers.

Are you an experienced researcher too busy to offer your time, but happy to offer guidance and advice? Then, fill out this form to become an R4FL Research Mentor!

Are you someone with other kinds of skills that you’d like to offer to the communities and movements we support? Other useful skills include: translation, grant writing, media relations, government relations, strategic communications, campaign design, graphic design, and others! Sign up here through this form to offer those kinds of non-research skills.

Support us as we support front-line communities and movements! You can send an Interac transfer to info@researchforthefrontlines.ca, or use the form below. (If you’d like to make a tax deductible donation, you can donate through our charitable partner at this link https://smallchangefund.ca/campaign/environmental-justice-research-alliance/)
